Try Reading in a New Genre

If you are like most people, you have a favorite genre you like to read in. The same may be said for the movies and TV shows that you watch. I prefer mystery / thriller and horror books, and rarely deviate from that. It's also the genre that I write my novels in.

However, recently I said to myself: "Self, why not try a completely different genre, just for the heck of it?" And, you know what? I did. I read a shifter book. I just knew going in that it was not gonna be my thing. But I really liked it. It was written well and kept me interested. I will read more like it. Unfortunately, I can't remember the title. I'll look it up and get back to you on that. :-)

Once upon a time, a long time ago, I used to read romance. I haven't read one in many years and truth be told, I'm hesitant about doing so now. It's not really my thing. But, I'll give it a go. I'm going to start one soon and give you my feedback on it. Anyone have a good romance novel they can recommend? I'm all ears.

What is your favorite genre?

Do you read in other genres? Why or why not?
